My Creative Space

My creative space today is all about making little coin purses. I love making these as they look so neat. I have avoided doing zips so far but I am no longer scared of zips in these little purses. My Mum showed me how to do them and told me to not be so daft and get over it! So I did! Now to take on other types of zip insertion, I think that can go on hold for a bit.

Thank you Alison, for your comment on our blog, really cheered me up as I am feeling in an unblogging mood at the moment. The domino knitting looks tons better now it's been ironed, and it really is easy, although we shouldn't tell everyone! Love your blog and the fact that there are so many of us creative people in touch with each other and trying out new ideas.

I can remember I too avoided any project involving zips & button holes... but after some practice I am less nervous...

Your purses look amazing!

I too am scared of zips - well sewing them anyway! Think your mum is right & to just get on with it, maybe I'll give it a go this weekend.

Beautiful fabric too.

Ohh zips really got us going! I am going to make a laptop sleeve in the same way and see how it goes. I want to make one for my friends birthday.

I sewed a zip into a skirt during my very first sewing lesson (from a family member) and haven't had the courage to do it again... I really must. Thanks for the motivation. Yours look very neat.

Alison I am not familiar with the zipper foot in your photo. Is it purpose made for invisible zips? The purse looks great. Mums are great for get over it and do it encouragement.

Thanks for your reply about the presser foot. I had a Pfaff from the late '80's that had a different foot. Your foot looks more functional than mine was. I know have a Viking/Husquavarna Platnium which is still an ongoing love story. I have several zipper feet for it depending on the application, fabirc, etc. Did you know that some of us become quite nerdy about the notions and equipment?
